Former Heidmar and Glencore high-flyers Tim Brennan and Eric Haughn are launching a new boutique-style commercial management operation for tankers that will target the midsize-tonnage market.

They seek to place a personalised stamp on midsize tonnage from medium-range (MR) products tankers to suezmaxes.

Two industry veterans have set out to make their mark on the midsize-tanker market by forming boutique-style ship management start-up Penfield Marine – and with “the right team, then the right situations will come.”

Penfield gets its name from a lighthouse off Fairfield’s shore in Long Island Sound and, in short, it is a clean slate for two big-company stalwarts.

'We’ve been friends for 20 years — we like and trust each other,' said 47-year-old Brennan.

“We are both at a point in our lives, and in our careers, where we want to work with people that we like and trust.”
